The Capital of Sri Lanka is fast developing after the decade old war ended in 2008. The infrastructure is improving and new restaurants, designer shops and pubs open up frequently. Colombo is just a 45 minute drive from the Katunayake Airport and its great hotels, splendid restaurants, entertainment, its colonial legacy and shopping make it a must stop for any traveler to Sri Lanka.
 
Arrive in Colombo and head to Unawatuna, one of the most popular beaches in the country with its calm waters. The reef offers a variety of marine life and there are few ship wrecks that makes interesting diving. The Old Dutch Fort in Galle, built in 1663 occupies 36 hectares of land comprising of old houses, churches, temples, museum, commercial buildings and a light house.

A journey to the deep sea will get you to the majestic Blue Whales and other giants of the ocean. Sri Lanka is one of the best places in the world to watch the Blue Whales and will be a unforgettable experience. In the evening head to Tangalle, a splendid and calm beach village with nice shallow water for you to enjoy.

Yala is the largest National park in Sri Lanka with an array of animals, birds, reptile, fauna and flora. It is perhaps the best place in the world to see the leopards and even the elusive sloth bear. There are also plenty of elephants, sambar, spotted deer, crocodiles and buffalos.

On day 4 you will head to the beautiful Mirissa, a quiet stretch of beach for you to relax and enjoy the sun and the sand.

Explore Colombo's great hotels, splendid restaurants, entertainment, designer shops and its colonial legacy. You will find well known brands selling at a fraction of their cost in the west and a fine array of gems and jewelry for you to select from. Colombo offers great night life with plenty of restaurants, pubs, nightclubs and even a few modest casinos.
